Today I had the pleasure of learning new expressive arts therapy. I love finding ways to express myself through creative means like painting, crafting, dance, and writing. Many people find creative outlets to express feelings and thoughts.
We all have different forms that “speak to us”. What speaks to you? Perhaps you enjoy listening to music and find yourself swaying to the beat. Or you enjoy writing poetry to work through something heavy and deep. Here are just a few examples:
Dance, movement
Music (creating or listening)
Writing (journaling, poetry, short stories)
Photography, film making
Cooking, baking
Theater, costume making, coplay
Visual art (drawing, pottery, sculpting, painting, embroidery, crochet, etc)
The list goes on… These can be coping skills and ways to express yourself in healthy ways. Find what speaks to you and I hope you find meaning in your expression.
