Positive affirmations are things you tell yourself to help you feel better, more motivated and shake off negative things life throws your way. Maybe it’s a mantra, or a powerful quote, or something someone said to you once. They can be short, long, silly, powerful, smart, poetic, colorful… the list goes on. The point is that when your mind is twisting things around, and everything seems dark and scary, you pull it out and use it to fight back. For every negative thing you tell yourself, have a powerful positive response.
“This is pointless, it will never get better” No actually, this is temporary and I will get through it.
“You are stupid and no one cares about you” I am loved and love myself enough to know what this is.
“You are weak, people walk all over you” I am strong and this will not break me.
I have Affirmation cards in my office and will pull them out from time to time. I let people go through the stack and find the one that speaks to them. It can make a difference when you are in the dark, lonely place and help combat against those negative thoughts that feel SO real.
Have courage and start taking steps to your best self.
